Customer profile
Grammer CZ is a manufacturer of front and rear console armrests for passenger cars, passenger train seats and other plastic parts. They assemble seats for truck and off-road vehicles, including foaming.
Execution
Project preparation
First, it was necessary to design and agree on the data exchange method between the mobile device and the server. The data structure was designed by the client.
We prepared a database and filled it with test data, where the customer tested the communication without affecting the real data.
Course of execution
First, it was necessary to create a communication channel. We created a web API, capable of transmitting data in different directions, for communication between the corporate SQL server and the mobile device for users.
In addition, a mobile app and user authorisation system for various types of users (maintenance, administrator, manager, etc.) were created.
The factory was equipped with NFC chips, i.e. wireless technology that allows secure data exchange over a short distance. In practice, it works by attaching a mobile phone with the app to the chip than can securely and immediately retrieve data from the chip or the device on which the chip is located.
The data server is on the cloud, outside the corporate network. It was important to the client that all functions were available anytime and from anywhere. The app can be used on the company’s Wi-Fi network, but it is not dependent on it and is also accessible via data.
Benefits
This automation application manually replaces entries in Excel spreadsheets. It significantly reduces the error rate, as the data are entered immediately and automatically by the maintenance staff (no manual copying). The GMS Mobile app speeds up both communication between employees and the administrative tasks performed by maintenance staff. The management has a real-time overview of the work performed and can enter the tasks to be performed in an automated manner.
